The Washington Island Music Festival closes with a tribute to our founders, Stephen Colburn and Marlee Sabo. The night begins, appropriately, with the oboe solo that opens the Milhaud Wind Quintet. Brahms Trio in C minor will have something to say about that! Granados’ rousing Quintet in G minor leads to our final piece, previously commissioned by the Festival, “Island Songs and Landscapes.” This popular work by Eric Ewazen is based on the poetry of the late long-time Island resident William Olson. The finale includes both the instrumentalists and community choral members and guests under the baton of our choral director Alison Vernon. Tickets sold at the door.
